From Uncertainty to Stability: The Transformation of Ana Alarcón

When Ana Alarcón arrived in Colorado with her family, she faced the same reality that thousands of immigrants experience: starting over in an unfamiliar country, far from their support networks, with major challenges ahead.

“When I arrived, I had nothing—just my family and a strong desire to move forward,” Ana recalls.

Her first contact with Centro de los Trabajadores came through a recommendation from someone already participating in our programs. From the very beginning, she found something that would make a difference in her life: ongoing support, guidance, and a community that believed in her.

“What impacted me the most was the support and follow-up. I never felt alone. There was always someone willing to guide and encourage me.”

With the desire to build a better future for her family, Ana took advantage of every training opportunity offered by Centro de los Trabajadores. She participated in English, computer skills, labor rights, finance, hospitality, construction, and culinary courses. In addition, she obtained the prestigious Child Development Associate (CDA) Certification, an essential credential for professional growth in early childhood education.

These trainings not only provided her with technical knowledge but also gave her the tools needed to successfully integrate into U.S. culture and the labor market.

The support from Centro de los Trabajadores was key during her job search. Our team assisted her in preparing her résumé, interview coaching, coordinating job opportunities, and even providing support throughout the hiring process.

“The support was vital. They guided me step by step, encouraged me when I had doubts, and taught me how to navigate the working world.”

Thanks to her effort and dedication, Ana now works at a childcare center, caring for preschool-aged children. She continues to grow professionally through additional training offered by her employer.

“We started from zero. Today we have financial stability, a better quality of life, and the peace of mind of knowing that we are building a better future for our children.”

When asked what Centro de los Trabajadores means in her life, her answer is simple but powerful:

“It has been the greatest support I have received since I arrived in this country.”

For other immigrants who are just beginning their journey, Ana shares a message full of hope:

“Don’t give up. Keep fighting for your dreams and take advantage of the training opportunities that exist. The effort is worth it, and with support and perseverance, great things can be achieved.”
