Programs
Since 2002, El Centro’s model offers programs that link day laborers, domestic workers, and other low-wage and immigrant workers to employment opportunities, education, and engaging campaigns to affect policy that strengthen their rights and address health and safety concerns. Its core programs are designed to enhance job and life skills while building leadership and strengthening relationships with the community.
MEMBERSHIP
El Centro is a membership organization for low-wage workers, day laborers and domestic workers. Members commit to uphold El Centro’s values and carry out its vision, promoting a culture of acceptance and support throughout the community; they pay an annual fee of $20; membership is a requirement in order to participate in certain programs and receive benefits such as an ID and access to Worker Support Funds.
Moreover, El Centro is committed to develop leadership among our immigrant workforce and provide the institutional support through collaborations with community partners to sustain and develop our members through effective educational, and community investment.

COMMUNITY WORKER CARE PROGRAM
El Centro addresses barriers immigrant and low-wage workers face in the spectrum of mental health. The goals are to strengthen the culture and systems of the organization that reflect trauma-informed practices, promote wellness to reduce mental health stigma, and create access to wrap-around services and resources.

ADVOCACY & COMMUNITY ORGANIZING PROGRAM
El Centro offers our working class families a venue and space to develop their leadership skills to find solutions to the pressures affecting their communities by working collectively and organizing with institutions that impact their everyday life.

WAGE THEFT PROGRAM/DIRECT ACTION(DAT)
El Centro uses direct action tactics to negotiate and put pressure on unscrupulous employers to pay the money they owe workers. Our team partners with institutions such as Joseph Korbel School of International Studies, Denver’s Auditor’s Office, The Colorado Department of Labor and Employment (CDLE), and a direct line to Towards Justice legal services and pro-bono attorneys.

BIENVENIDOS A DENVER - INTEGRATION PROGRAM
In response to the influx of migrants in Colorado, El Centro created this program to support newcomers to integrate and navigate their new community through education, resources, and labor training opportunities.
